Overcoming the language barrier is one of the most serious challenges facing newcomers in their settlement and integration to Canadian society. Language and communication is the starting point from which all other challenges faced by newcomers could be overcome, serving as the foundation for all succeeding steps to move forward. EISA’s Translation and Interpretation services believes that by reducing language and communication barriers, newcomers will be able to fully access settlement services and seek employment or admission to educational programs.

Services We Provide:

• Certified translation of basic documents needed for immediate settlement, educational and vocational purpose such as: diploma or degree certificates/transcripts, birth/marriage/death/divorce certificates, and professional accreditation documents.
• Interpretation in your first language to assist you with your appointments at the government and other organizations.
• Notary Public Services for a small fee.

For Translation We Require:

• Original documents – A maximum of five documents per request
• Permanent Resident Card or Immigration document showing date of arrival, country of origin and immigration category
• Completed Language Bank Translation Request Form- (Form available at EISA)

Translation service is FREE for eligible clients who have been in Canada for LESS THAN A YEAR. A SMALL FEE is charged for eligible clients who have been in Canada for MORE than a year.

For Interpretation We Require:

• Advance notice of time the service is needed to arrange for the availability of a volunteer (at least a week before the schedule)
• Completed Language Bank Interpretation Request form- (form available at EISA)
• Permanent Resident Card or Immigration document showing date of arrival, country of origin and immigration category

Interpretation service is FREE for eligible clients who have been residing in Canada for the past three years. A SMALL FEE is charged for OTHER CLIENTS (those who have been in Canada for over three years)

• Bring your immigration document and originals of the documents you want us to translate;
• For interpretation services please make sure you know the time and place where you will need an interpreter.
